Colombia

Colombia is bordered on the northwest by Panama, on the east by Venezuela and Brazil, and on the southwest by Peru and Ecuador. They are known to be a Republic. Colombia is ethnically diverse, with people who are descendants of the Spanish Colonies and the Africans that were brought to Colombia for slave trade. They also are comprised of a large number of immigrants from Europe and the Middle East through the 20th century. Being that Colombia is situated between that of of Latin America and the Americas, there has been a significantly wide range of cultural influences. The people who came into the country alone is not all who were responsible for what Colombia is today, but also urban migration, industrialization, globalization, and other political, social and economic changes.

Barranquilla is the capital of Colombia’s Atlántico Department and is located along the Magdalena River. It is an upbeat area to live in or travel to because it is known for its parades, carnivals, and street life in general. It is found in Northern Colombia and has a little over a million people living there. This is also home to the largest port in the country, which, before the technology we have today, was the busiest and most important area in all of Colombia.
